Insulin ointment may speed healing of blistering skin disease

NCT ID NCT07461103

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether applying insulin directly to skin sores helps them heal faster in people with pemphigus vulgaris, a rare autoimmune blistering disease. Twenty patients each had three similar sores treated with either long-acting insulin, short-acting insulin, or a saltwater control for up to 14 days. The main goal was to see how many days each sore took to fully heal.
