Diabetes drug tested as skin healer for rare blistering disease

NCT ID NCT07461103

Summary

This small study tested whether applying insulin directly to skin wounds could help them heal faster in people with pemphigus vulgaris, a painful autoimmune disease that causes severe blisters. Twenty patients each had three similar wounds treated with different types of insulin cream or a plain saline solution for two weeks. Researchers measured how quickly the wounds closed up and shrank in size to see if insulin made a difference.
