First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to standard exercise therapy can improve symptoms like fatigue, pain, and walking ability in people with postpolio syndrome. 26 adults with paralytic polio were randomly assigned to receive either exercise alone or exercise plus 10 sessions of TMS over two weeks. Researchers measured changes in muscle strength, walking distance, fatigue, pain, mood, and quality of life up to three months after treatment.
