Magnetic pulses probe Autism's social brain mystery

NCT ID NCT01648868

Summary

This research study aimed to better understand how a specific brain area is involved in social perception in people with autism. Researchers used a non-invasive magnetic stimulation technique on the brains of 97 adults (both with autism and healthy volunteers) while they looked at social scenes or listened to human voices. The goal was to learn how this brain region functions differently in autism, which could inform future therapeutic approaches.
