New radiation technique aims to cut side effects in leukemia transplants

NCT ID NCT06209190

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested a new way to give radiation before a stem cell transplant for people with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The new method, called total marrow and lymphoid irradiation (TMLI), targets the bone marrow and lymph nodes while sparing healthy tissues. Fourteen patients aged 16 to 45 received TMLI with or without chemotherapy. The goal was to see if it is safe and feasible, and to measure how well it controls the disease after transplant.
