New study tests if adding hyaluronic acid to TMJ surgery boosts relief

NCT ID NCT07614932

First seen May 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at two treatments for a jaw joint problem called disc displacement without reduction, which can cause pain and trouble opening the mouth. Researchers will compare a standard arthroscopic cleaning procedure alone versus the same procedure plus an injection of hyaluronic acid. The goal is to see which approach better reduces pain and improves mouth opening in 52 adults who have not gotten relief from other treatments.
