First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether the antibiotic tigecycline can reduce fever faster than the standard drug doxycycline in people with scrub typhus, a bacterial infection spread by mites. Thirty-one hospitalized adults were randomly assigned to receive either tigecycline or doxycycline. Researchers measured how quickly fever resolved and tracked any side effects.
