First seen Dec 29, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests a new cochlear implant system that is completely implanted under the skin, so no external microphone or processor is needed. It involves 18 adults with sensorineural hearing loss who already qualify for a cochlear implant. Researchers will check how well the internal microphone picks up sound and how participants rate their hearing over 18 months.
