Tiny study: black seed oil changes gut bugs
NCT ID NCT07450807
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether thymoquinone, the main active compound in black seed oil, changes the types of bacteria living in the human gut. Eight healthy adults took black seed oil capsules for 20 days and gave stool samples at five time points. The goal was to see if the oil could help gut healing after surgery, but this was just an early, small study to check for changes in gut bacteria.
What this could mean

What this could lead to
If this works, it could point toward using black seed oil to support gut health, especially after surgery.
