First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests whether replacing the thumb base joint with an artificial implant provides better pain relief and hand function than standard surgery (bone removal) for people with thumb osteoarthritis. 90 adults with painful thumb arthritis will receive the implant and be compared to 90 similar patients who had standard surgery. Researchers will track pain, strength, and complications for up to 10 years.
