Clot removal during heart attack: does it help?

NCT ID NCT05510661

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing a blood clot from a blocked heart artery during an emergency procedure (primary PCI) leads to better blood flow and fewer complications compared to just opening the artery alone. It involves 300 adults having a severe heart attack (STEMI) within 12 hours of symptoms. The main goal is to see if clot removal improves blood flow and reduces the risk of death, heart failure, or other heart problems.
