Clot removal before stenting may boost heart attack survival

NCT ID NCT05510661

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to treat a severe heart attack caused by a completely blocked artery. One group gets a clot-removal device before a stent is placed, while the other gets a stent alone. The goal is to see if removing the clot first leads to better blood flow and fewer complications like death, heart failure, or stroke. About 300 adults with a first-time heart attack are taking part.
