First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing fluid from around the lungs (a procedure called thoracentesis) can reduce shortness of breath in people hospitalized with heart failure. About 216 adults will either receive standard medical therapy alone or standard therapy plus thoracentesis. Researchers will compare how much breathing improves and track quality of life for 30 days after treatment.
