New heat therapy for dry eyes tested against old-school compresses

NCT ID NCT03767530

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a device called MiBo Thermoflo, which applies heat to the eyelids, can improve dry eye symptoms better than the standard warm compress and eyelid massage routine. About 42 adults with dry eye from meibomian gland dysfunction who haven't improved with warm compresses will be randomly assigned to either the device or the standard care. Researchers will measure tear quality, eye surface health, and symptom scores over 24 weeks.
