Quick scan could spot dangerous child infections

NCT ID NCT07388017

Summary

This study is testing a new, quick way to help doctors spot serious bone and joint infections in children. Researchers will use a special thermal camera to take a 10-second video of a child's limb, looking for temperature changes that might signal an infection. The goal is to see if this painless, low-cost method can provide a faster diagnosis than current scans, which can be slow and require sedation. The study involves 30 children at a single hospital and will not change their standard medical care.
