First-of-its-Kind study aims to stop psychosis before it starts
NCT ID NCT07188597
Summary
This study is testing a culturally adapted version of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), a type of talk therapy, for young people in Pakistan who show early warning signs of psychosis. The goal is to see if this therapy can prevent or delay the onset of a first psychotic episode, like schizophrenia, and improve other symptoms like depression and anxiety. This is the first such study in a low-income country, aiming to create a treatment that fits the local culture and is scalable.
