New therapy challenges gold standard for quieting your inner critic
NCT ID NCT07432139
Summary
This study tested whether a newer therapy approach (Emotion-Focused Therapy) works as well as the established gold standard (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) to help adults reduce harsh self-criticism. 95 Portuguese-speaking adults with high self-criticism received six weekly online therapy sessions of one type or the other. Researchers measured changes in self-criticism, mental health symptoms, and overall well-being to see which approach was more effective.
