Holding hands during a shot may ease the sting
NCT ID NCT07673757
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether having a companion hold the patient's hand during an intramuscular injection can lower pain. Sixty adults receiving a standard injection are randomly assigned to either receive this supportive hand-holding or not. Pain levels are measured right after the shot, and researchers also look at how fear of pain relates to the experience.
