Old asthma drug may help kids with rare genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT04551170

Summary

This study is testing whether theophylline, a medication long used for asthma, can help children with a rare genetic disorder called pseudohypoparathyroidism. Researchers want to see if the drug helps with weight loss, slows bone maturation to allow for more growth, and reduces the body's resistance to important hormones. The 52-week trial involves about 34 children aged 2 to 12 who have the condition and obesity.
