New drug combo aims to free kids from lifelong blood transfusions

Summary
This study is testing whether combining two existing drugs, thalidomide and hydroxyurea, can help people with severe beta thalassemia. The goal is to see if this combination can reduce how often patients need life-sustaining blood transfusions. The trial will enroll 150 patients over two years old and monitor them for a year to check effectiveness and safety.
