Teens' PTSD symptoms tracked during therapy: a closer look at individual progress

NCT ID NCT07402681

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 21 adolescents aged 12 to 18 who have experienced trauma and are undergoing trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). Researchers will regularly measure their PTSD symptoms, along with anxiety and depression, to see how symptoms change over time. The goal is to better understand individual patterns of improvement, not to test a new treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help therapists better tailor TF-CBT to individual teens by understanding how symptoms change during treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 21 participants, so results may not apply to all teens. It measures symptoms but does not test if the therapy works better than other approaches.
