Zap the pain? study tests electric device for easier IUD placement

NCT ID NCT06335823

Summary

This study tested if a TENS unit, a small device that delivers a mild electrical current through the skin, could reduce pain during IUD insertion. 60 participants seeking an IUD were randomly assigned to receive either a real TENS unit or a placebo device that looked the same but delivered no current. The goal was to see if this non-invasive method could become a new option for managing this common procedure pain.
