First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a mild electrical device placed on the skin (TENS) can quickly relieve acute low back pain in the emergency department. About 250 adults with sudden back pain will receive either real TENS or a placebo for 30 minutes. The goal is to see if TENS offers a safe, drug-free way to reduce pain and the need for stronger medications.
