Race against time: drug trial aims to halt sudden blindness
NCT ID NCT04526951
Summary
This study tested if a fast-acting clot-busting drug could save vision in people who suddenly lose sight due to a blocked artery in the eye. 81 patients were randomly assigned to receive either the drug (tenecteplase) or aspirin within 4.5 hours of symptoms starting. The main goal was to see if the drug led to significantly better vision recovery one month later.
