New temporary stent aims to save limbs from amputation

NCT ID NCT06122974

Summary

This study aims to see if a new temporary, drug-coated stent is safer and works better than standard balloon angioplasty for treating severe blockages in the leg arteries of patients with critical limb ischemia. The goal is to improve blood flow to the foot to relieve pain, heal wounds, and prevent major amputation. About 518 participants with severe leg pain or tissue damage will be randomly assigned to receive either the new stent or the balloon treatment.
