NCT ID NCT07299786
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a 12-week online exercise program could improve physical fitness and quality of life in older adults with multiple chronic conditions like heart disease or COPD. Thirty-four participants in Colombia took part, doing supervised aerobic, strength, flexibility, and balance exercises via Microsoft Teams. Researchers compared them to a group receiving in-home physiotherapy to see if the online approach was effective and safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Multicomponent exercise program (aerobic, strength, flexibility, balance) delivered via telerehabilitation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that online exercise classes are a safe and effective way to help older adults with multiple health problems stay active and independent.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 34 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The online format may not work for those without internet access or tech support.
