First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether regular phone education and counseling can help people who have a stoma (an opening in the belly for waste) adjust better and have fewer complications. 66 adults who had stoma surgery took part. Researchers called patients five times after surgery to give advice and support. They measured how well patients adapted and how severe any stoma problems were at 1 and 3 months after surgery.
