NCT ID NCT07277153
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed study tested a new painkiller called tegileridine in 150 adults who had gallbladder surgery. Participants received either the drug or a placebo through a vein, along with standard pain management. The goal was to see if tegileridine reduces pain and the need for extra opioids in the first 48 hours after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tegileridine (a painkiller given through a vein)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new option for managing pain after abdominal surgery, possibly reducing the need for other opioids.
What could go wrong
This is a completed phase 4 trial, so results are available. However, tegileridine is a narcotic and may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, or breathing problems. Its benefit over existing painkillers is not yet proven.
