New surgical technique aims to stop excruciating facial pain from coming back

NCT ID NCT07046247

Summary

This study looked back at 150 patients who had surgery for severe facial nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia). Researchers wanted to see if placing shredded Teflon material away from the nerve, instead of right next to it, was just as good at controlling pain while possibly reducing the chance of the pain returning. They reviewed patient records and MRI scans to understand if this different placement method led to less inflammation and better long-term results.
