New teen pain relief study aims to reduce need for opioids after surgery

NCT ID NCT07225140

Summary

This study is testing whether a combination pain medication (ibuprofen + acetaminophen) works better than acetaminophen alone for teenagers with moderate to severe pain after orthopedic surgery like bone repairs. About 180 teens aged 12-18 will be randomly assigned to receive different doses of the combination drug or just acetaminophen. Researchers will measure how well the drugs control pain over 24 hours and monitor for side effects.
