New study tracks teen gaze to fight nearsightedness
NCT ID NCT07440134
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This observational study looks at whether different eyeglass prescriptions change how close teenagers hold objects during everyday tasks. It includes 100 adolescents aged 12-17, both with and without myopia. Participants wear motion-capture and eye-tracking gear while performing normal activities. The goal is to understand if special lenses like Essilor Stellest can influence working distance and potentially slow myopia progression.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help design better eyeglass lenses to slow myopia progression in teenagers.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It measures behavior, not outcomes, so it cannot prove that any lens type prevents or worsens myopia.
