Can feedback and practice make teen helpline volunteers better listeners?
NCT ID NCT07639736
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether giving teen helpline volunteers extra feedback and practice after motivational interviewing training helps them support callers better. About 50 teen volunteers will be split into two groups: one gets the standard training, the other gets extra feedback and practice sessions. Researchers will measure changes in how willing teens are to seek help and their distress levels.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could show a better way to train teen helpline volunteers, potentially improving how they support peers in distress.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility trial (50 participants) focused on training methods, not a direct treatment. Results may not apply to other settings or lead to clear health improvements.
