New radiofrequency device could ease Post-Burn hand pain

NCT ID NCT07660328

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether TECAR therapy, a device that uses radiofrequency energy to heat tissues, can reduce pain and improve hand function in people with carpal tunnel syndrome after a burn. Fifty-two adults aged 20 to 40 with mild to moderate carpal tunnel and a history of upper limb burns will receive either TECAR or standard ultrasound therapy for two weeks. Researchers will measure symptom severity, hand function, grip strength, and pain levels.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

TECAR therapy (a device that uses radiofrequency energy to heat tissues)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a non-invasive way to ease pain and improve hand function for people with carpal tunnel syndrome after burns.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 52 participants. The therapy may not work better than standard rehab, and long-term effects are unknown.
