Drug used in glaucoma may boost tear duct surgery success

NCT ID NCT07154121

Summary

This study is testing if adding a drug called 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) during a specific tear duct surgery makes it more successful. It focuses on adults with a blocked tear duct and a particularly small tear sac, which makes standard surgery less effective. Researchers will compare surgery with the drug to surgery alone to see if it reduces scar tissue and keeps the new drainage opening clear.
