Sound waves may shield brain during artery surgery

NCT ID NCT07462546

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound during a procedure to open a narrowed neck artery can reduce the risk of stroke. About 232 people with severe artery narrowing will be randomly assigned to receive ultrasound or not during their stenting. The goal is to see if ultrasound helps break up small clots and lowers the number of new brain injuries seen on scans.
