New vaccine aims to turbocharge TB recovery, fight drug resistance

NCT ID NCT05455112

Summary

This study tested if adding an experimental vaccine called RUTI to the standard antibiotic treatment for tuberculosis (TB) helps patients get better faster. The vaccine is designed to boost the body's immune response to help kill TB bacteria, especially those that are hard for drugs to reach. Researchers enrolled 41 adults with active lung TB to see if the combination was safe and could speed up recovery without increasing the risk of the bacteria becoming drug-resistant.
