Blood DNA test could revolutionize TB treatment monitoring

NCT ID NCT06845618

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study explores whether a blood test that detects tiny DNA fragments from the tuberculosis bacteria can help doctors monitor how well treatment is working. Researchers will track 140 adults in Thailand with newly diagnosed TB, taking blood samples over time to see if the DNA levels drop as the infection clears. The goal is to find a faster, more accurate way to assess treatment response than current lab methods.
