Less surgery, same results? major trial tests smarter approach for breast cancer

Summary
This study tests whether a less extensive surgery that only removes cancer-affected lymph nodes, followed by radiation, works as well as removing all lymph nodes in the armpit for breast cancer patients whose cancer has spread to those nodes. The goal is to reduce side effects like arm swelling while keeping the cancer from coming back. About 1,500 participants will be followed for several years to compare disease-free survival and quality of life.
