New heart valve procedure tested for common birth defect

NCT ID NCT03635424

Summary

This study is testing a less invasive procedure to replace a narrowed heart valve in patients born with a bicuspid aortic valve. The procedure, called TAVR, is delivered via a catheter and is being evaluated in 150 patients who are considered low-risk for traditional open-heart surgery. The main goals are to see if the procedure is safe and if the new valve works well 30 days after implantation.
