New rinse may slash infections in heart device patients

NCT ID NCT04735666

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is tracking 2300 people who had a heart device (like a pacemaker) placed or adjusted. During surgery, doctors used a special antimicrobial rinse called TauroPace to clean the device and the surgical pocket. The goal is to see if this rinse reduces infections within 3 months and up to a year after the procedure. The study is observational, meaning researchers are just watching what happens, not assigning treatments.
