Brain wave study after blood clot surgery halted before starting

NCT ID NCT04966546

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study was designed to understand why some older adults experience confusion or weakness after surgery for a chronic subdural hematoma (a blood clot on the brain). Researchers planned to monitor brain waves called spreading depolarizations and test a drug (memantine) to see if it could reduce these waves and improve recovery. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so no results are available.
