New strategy aims to pinpoint who needs extra antibiotic for deadly blood infection

NCT ID NCT07155590

Summary

This research analyzes data from two previous trials to see if a patient classification system can identify which people with Staphylococcus aureus blood infections are most likely to benefit from adding the antibiotic fosfomycin to their standard treatment. The goal is to improve survival and treatment success by giving the extra drug only to patients who truly need it, rather than to everyone. The study involves analyzing data from 369 patients who were already part of earlier clinical trials.
