Can squeezing your arm make you kick faster? scientists test theory on elite fighters

NCT ID NCT07170774

Summary

This study tested if a technique called ischemic preconditioning (IPC)—briefly applying pressure to an arm—could improve how elite taekwondo athletes use oxygen and perform during a kicking test. Sixteen national-level male athletes tried both the real pressure and a fake, low-pressure version to see which worked better. The goal was to gather knowledge about how this technique might affect athletic performance, not to treat a disease.
