Clot-Busting catheter may limit heart attack damage in major trial

NCT ID NCT06887413

First seen Nov 26, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a special suction device (INDIGO ASPIRATION SYSTEM with CAT RX) to remove blood clots during emergency heart artery opening (angioplasty) can reduce heart muscle damage compared to standard angioplasty alone. About 140 adults with a severe type of heart attack (anterior STEMI) will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The main goal is to see if the clot removal leads to less blockage in tiny heart vessels and smaller heart scars, measured by MRI a few days after the procedure.
