Summary

This study aims to find out if a bacteria called Treponema parvum is more common in people with gum disease (periodontitis) compared to healthy people. Researchers will collect plaque samples from the gums of 112 participants and use a DNA test to measure the bacteria. The results may help clarify the role of this bacteria in gum disease, but this study does not test any treatment.
