New anemia pill may replace injections for kidney patients on dialysis

NCT ID NCT07565701

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether kidney dialysis patients with anemia can safely switch from the injectable drug Epogen to an oral pill called vadadustat. The goal is to keep their red blood cell levels stable while reducing stomach side effects. About 100 adults on dialysis will take vadadustat three times a week, with a gradual transition and low-dose Epogen support if needed.
