Camera test maps swallowing struggles in muscle disease

NCT ID NCT04773470

Summary

This study aimed to better understand and measure swallowing problems in people with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Researchers used a small camera to look at the throat while patients swallowed, applying standard scoring systems to track the severity of issues. The goal was to gather detailed information on how common and severe these problems are across different SMA types and to see if new treatments affect swallowing over time.
