Collagen mesh may reduce serious complications after abdominal cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT07241091
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested a special collagen mesh placed inside the abdomen during surgery for cancers that spread to the lining of the belly. The goal was to see if it could prevent common complications like bowel blockages, infections, and fistulas. Sixty adults with peritoneal cancer took part, and half received the mesh while the other half received standard care. The results may help improve recovery and reduce the need for additional surgeries.
