Can a better stitch stop hernias? surgeons study new technique

NCT ID NCT07340918

Summary

This study looked at whether the way a surgeon closes the abdominal wall after an operation affects the chance of developing an incisional hernia later. Researchers followed 217 patients for a year after their surgery, recording details about their stitches and checking for hernias. The main goal was to see if a newer 'small-bite' stitching technique is better at preventing this painful complication than the older, conventional method.
