Study tests better skin cleaner to stop infections after lung exams
NCT ID NCT05430308
Summary
This study aimed to find the best skin cleaning solution to prevent infections after a medical thoracoscopy, a procedure to diagnose unexplained fluid around the lungs. Researchers compared two common antiseptics—chlorhexidine-alcohol and povidone-iodine—in 100 patients. The goal was to see which cleaner was more effective at reducing surgical site and chest infections following the procedure.
